Do you ever feel like you don’t breathe enough during the day or night? Is it hard to breathe normally, like you used to, or is it hard to catch your breath?

This is your body signaling that it's not getting enough oxygen, which it needs to survive. If you’re feeling air hunger now, then it means that this condition has been going on for a while.

Oxygen, which is made up of two molecules, enters your body through the lungs, where it binds to hemoglobin (a protein that carries oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body) in red blood cells. This oxygen is then delivered to every cell to fuel the energy-producing process in your body.

When oxygen levels drop, so does your energy. After intense exercise, you may experience air hunger, but it’s temporary and goes away with deeper breathing. However, ongoing air hunger, where you feel like you can’t catch your breath, can be a symptom you want to be aware of so you can resolve the cause.

If your lungs are healthy and you have air hunger, poor rib movement is often the cause. Your ribs move up and down like bucket handles, helping to pull oxygen into your lungs and push out carbon dioxide. When this movement is restricted, breathing becomes inefficient.

A common misconception is that optimal breathing comes from controlling the diaphragm and "breathing with your stomach." This is because many people’s rib cages are stiff due to compensations in the spine.

In reality, top athletes, like long-distance runners, breathe by fully engaging their rib cage. To test this, try breathing into the back of your ribs. If your ribs move freely, you’ll feel the difference. Now, try having someone lift your ribs gently. You’ll likely find it much easier to take a deep breath.

The HYDRO STRUCTURAL Technique™, perfected by Dr. Dan Riesling, will properly and fully address the ribs (as essential moving parts in the delivery system of your oxygen needs). Your health naturally will improve in every aspect, in addition to achieving stable pain reduction and elimination.
